Just look at these photos.......
who could resist a face like that......not our girl Meg...
she is off to Haiti..again in MAY this will be her longest stay yet...
3 weeks...no showers, no comfortable bed...no phone calls home...
one would think at 20 years old that might be torture....
not for her...for her it is a calling if you will & for me it is something I must get used to...
cause one thing I know for sure is....
Haiti has stolen Meg's heart....x0

Every now and then...
Every now and then you get a gift that just blows you away..
This piece of slate from the roof of an old cottage came all the way from Scotland....picked up from a pile by my best friend Trish while she was out walking by the sea with her daughter Jen....(yes Jen I love it !)
Buried in the bottom of her suitcase was one for her and one for me....cause thats just how it is with us....thats why I adore her (and lets be honest she knows I would have killed her if she hadn't got me one)
Hope you all have a wonderful day....I just love reading the notes you leave me!
Be back next week ! Chrissy xo

Rustic & Raw....
This old board has been in our basement forever...
think it was the top of an ironing board in its first life....its just shy of 5ft. long...
I have used it as a shelf many times....but now it graces our island & looks like an old french cutting board (to rough to use as one though)
I love how imperfect it is....its worn and cracked and old.....
looks like it belongs in our kitchen...so thats where it will stay ...at least for now! Hope you have a great day...mild and wet here , can all but smell spring in the air! x0x0

The Carpenters Wife.....
Hi there.....thought I would do a quick post to show you the coffee table John made for our living room....we had been using a six foot bench he made years ago but it just wasn't working..
I love my pedestal table ....he has sold alot of those over the years...and here is my lovely new coffee table (drum roll) ....
I love it!!! Its the right size....the right colour and it has four drawers and a little wee cupboard...the top of it is an old barn door and the original handle is still on it...cool !!!
O.k enough of this fun stuff ..I am off today and have sooooooooo much to do it isn't funny! Thanks so much for coming by hope your day is a good one! x0x0 Chrissy

My Dream White Kitchen.....
Hello there....Happy 2012 !!! Its funny isn't it how quickly time goes....it was a year ago now that our dark and dreary kitchen was under construction....how can that be!?
I can hardly remember what it looked like..I think I have blocked it from my mind!
I still come down in the morning and get a buzz when I turn the light on in here...I dreamt about this kitchen for so long...
from the tiny details to the exposed brick wall......
from the antique beams John salvaged & stained (and installed). I had always wished I had an island and thanks to my awesome (and talented husband) I do! Next post I will show you the beautiful coffee table he made me for Christmas.
There is nothing after a year that I would change about this room....
I know some people thought that antique pine counters were abit odd but I would never go back to anything else...John did such a good job making and staining them...
they are beautiful and soooooo easy to care for..I love them!
Anyway I hope I did not bore you with more kitchen photos ....it really is my favorite room in the house....
Hope you all have a lovely day.I so appreciate your visits and comments..I really do!! Till next time, all the best Chrissy x0
